The Barolo DOCG wine-producing area lies to the south-west of the town of Alba, and is less than an hour by car from Casa della Fontana. Here is a small selection of photographs from Diano d'Alba, Grinzane Cavour, Roddi and Barolo itself, all villages within the Barolo DOCG area.

Diano d'Alba

Colouful collection of houses viewed from the belvedere in the centre of the village

Diano d'Alba

Spring brings a riot of colour to the countryside.

Diano d'Alba

The parish church of St John the Baptist, viewed here from the belvedere, was built between 1763 and 1770.

Grinzane Cavour

The castle is host to the enoteca where you can buy wine and other local produce

Grinzane Cavour

A striking stand of walnut trees which, when mature, will be harvested for their timber.

Roddi

The striking village centre with its castle, parish church and town hall

Barolo

The pink facades of the parish church can be located behind the castle in the centre of the village

Barolo

This (private) balcony will provide the owners with a delightful shady spot from which to observe the comings and goings in the village.

Barolo

One of the numerous wine outlets in the village centre; many have a decorative motif like this.

Barolo

Attractive clouds climb into the sky beyond the vineyard horizon
