The OrchardBelow the quiet road passing Casa della Fontana we discovered a Secret Orchard containing two magnificent mature cherry trees and numerous hidden smaller fruit trees.We have cleared the undergrowth from the orchard and to re-invigour it have planted new peach, nectarine, pear, plum and apple trees, with further re-planting planned for 2009. When Spring arrives, the orchard is lit by dainty pink and white fruit blossom, and wild yellow primroses flourish underfoot. The orchard is a delightful, peaceful place to explore, or to sit and read a book in the shade on hot summer days. |
