South FarmlandAbout 1 kilometre further along the road down the valley from Casa della Fontana we have more vineyards of moscato and barbera grapes. In Autumn 2008 we have excavated a further area of about 1,000 square metres to create another moscato vineyard.Here we own a small one-up, one-down currently derelict stone agricultural cottage, which we call the 'Writer's House'. This small property has magnificent views and is fairly secluded, so would be an ideal place to stay for those who wish to get away from it all (and maybe paint or write a book) after it has been refurbished. Above the Writer's House and along a short track through woodland we have an expanse of pastureland, climbing gently to a hilltop. The grass is full of wild flowers which in turn attract an abundance of butterflies. From here the views down the valley are breathtaking and it is a wonderful place for a stroll or for a picnic. |
