Sessame village

Sessame Village

Wisteria Cottage nestles in the lee of the old castle hill in the small village of Sessame. The castle was captured and demolished in 1441 and the area is now a public open space with panoramic views.

The main official activity is the growing of grapes and production of wine, especially the sweet and effervescent Brachetto d'Acqui DOCG whose vines flourish here.

There is an excellent restaurant just 100 yards from Wisteria Cottage, and the village bar is just a little further away.

The village has a small cobbled piazza adorned by the baroque parish church of St George. The former oratory, also baroque, is today used for cultural events.

A series of scenic way-marked country and forest paths link Sessame village to its neighbours.
