Opened in 2003, the cycling 'Museum of
Champions' is in the pleasant town of Novi Ligure, 34 miles from Nizza
Monferrato. The short drive takes you out of the Monferrato Hills and across
the floodplain of the River Bormida - miles of quiet, flat country roads and
intriguing villages, just right for cycling on. In June, the fields of
girasole (sunflowers) make a magnificent sight.
When you reach Novi from Acqui Terme,
follow signs for the centro which will bring you right to the museum,
just across the roundabout with a dramatic arched fountain. There
is ample free car parking opposite.
When you have finished your visit, the
historic centre of town is just a 5 minute walk away. The principal sight is
the Palazzi Dipinti (Painted Houses).
The Museum is open on Friday afternoons,
Saturdays and Sundays.

-
The Castle's route - 49 kilometres
-
The 'conquest' of Val Borbera (ascent
of 400 metres) - 78 kilometres
